Bringing Oak Floors Back to Life. A Stunning Resotoration and Refinishing Project that took Four Days to Complete
Description: Our client recently reached out to us with a request to transform her ageing Tasmanian oak floors. Over the years, the once-beautiful timber had developed a strong yellow tone that no longer suited her taste or the updated style of her home. She dreamed of restoring the floors to a more natural and contemporary finish—and we were more than happy to help.
The project involved a full oak hardwood floor refinishing process. We began by carefully sanding back the Tasmanian oak floorboards to remove years of wear, old coatings, and the discoloured yellowing that had developed over time. This crucial step revealed the raw beauty of the oak beneath, showcasing its light and elegant grain.
Once fully sanded, we applied a high-quality, water-based polyurethane finish with a natural matte sheen. This modern, low-yellowing polish helped maintain the timber’s natural tone while offering long-lasting protection and durability. The client specifically wanted to avoid any further yellowing over time, so we selected a product designed to preserve the oak’s natural hues for years to come.
The full oak floor restoration process took four days from start to finish. From preparation and sanding to sealing and final polishing, every step was handled with precision and care. The transformation was remarkable—what was once a tired, dated floor is now a bright and modern centrepiece of the home.
